Maria Camila Duque: when the digital and the analog meet in art

In the age of screens and social networks, where everything seems to happen at a dizzying speed, the artist María Camila Duque stops to explore how these influences impact our perception and our way of creating. With a background in plastic arts and psychology from the University of the Andes, Duque has developed a body of work that combines the best of both worlds: the digital and the analog. In her work, the "perfect" nature of algorithms meets the unpredictability of traditional painting, generating a dialogue that challenges the superficiality of the virtual environment.

Through techniques that include the printing of algorithmic gradients and the application of pictorial gestures upon them, María Camila plays with the malleability of paint, a metaphor for the human brain, which also adapts and transforms according to its surroundings. Her most recent project, "Gestos alegorizados", is a continuation of her series "Algoritmos sensibles", where she explores how the influence of social networks, especially Instagram, affects both our psyche and the new contemporary aesthetic languages.

This September, at Culto Gallery, you will not only be able to see her work in a unique exhibition but also have the opportunity to discover her creative process in a more intimate way. On September 12 at 7:00 PM, we will hold an Open Studio with María Camila Duque, a more informal format in which the artist will present various series and projects she has been working on. It will be a special occasion to explore closely how the digital and the analog converge in her work, and to have direct conversations with the artist about her vision and creative process.
