"The Three Cups" by Jorge Tukan: a visual narrative between the everyday and the fantastic

At Culto Gallery, we present the new exhibition by Jorge Tukan, a visual artist whose work invites us to explore the connections between history, culture, and imagination.

"The Three Cups" is inspired by the homonymous essay by José María Vergara y Vergara, addressing the history and cultural impact of cacao, coffee, and tea, three fundamental beverages in Colombian identity.

Tukan, a graduate of Javeriana University with a diploma in Mexican Art History from Ibero-American University in Mexico, has developed his career between editorial illustration and collage. He has collaborated in publications such as Cromos, Malpensante, Avianca and other important media, as well as participating in multiple national and international exhibitions. This diversity of influences is reflected in "The Three Cups", where the graphic and the dreamlike combine in a vibrant play of textures and forms.

In this work, the symbolic landscapes of Colombia come to life through digital collages, intertwining natural habitats with fantastic narratives that evoke magical realism. With each piece, Tukan fragments and reconstructs images, transporting the viewer to a space where the tangible and the imaginary coexist. This exhibition offers a reflection on the complexity of Colombian identity, highlighting how agriculture and culture merge in daily life to shape our collective memory.

Jorge Tukan has exhibited his work in spaces such as Casatinta, the Bogoshorts festival, Club El Nogal, and festivals in France, consolidating his artistic practice around collage and illustration. Now, with "The Three Cups", the artist not only celebrates Colombia's natural wealth but also questions the ways we consume and represent the everyday.

The exhibition will be open from October 15 to November 9, with hours from Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
