Catalina Puerta Padilla

The work of Catalina Puerta is inspired by reflection on the rooted moments of our past and their resonance in the present. It explores the individual's relationship with their inner self, their emotional states, and how past actions shape our current identity. Each series investigates childhood and the emotional burden we carry as an inherent part of our history from various perspectives, recognizing that the past continues to exert influence on our being and thinking.

Additionally, it addresses contemporary themes and the meaning of adulthood, issues we face daily in our quest to live consciously. Through experimentation with various materials, Catalina employs techniques ranging from the use of crayon, acrylic paint, as well as graphic techniques to create visual paradoxes or evoke cultural imaginaries.

JOURNEY TO THE PAST: EMOTIONAL INHERITANCES

In this exhibition, each object is an echo of our stories and emotions, connecting the past with the present in an eternal flow of experiences. From a move that reveals adulthood to the exploration of emotional inheritances, each work is a testament to our capacity to adapt and grow.

The ancient Colombian carts stand as symbols of this emotional burden we carry, silent witnesses to our family and cultural history. Through fluid acrylic, emotions transform into colors that dance on the canvas, reminding us of the complexity and universality of our human experience.

Frases como "everything will be fine" emerge as beacons of hope in a sea of uncertainty, reminding us that adult life is marked by challenges that shape and strengthen us on our journey towards wholeness.

By immersing ourselves in this exhibition, we invite ourselves to reconnect with our inner child, remembering that we are the result of all our shared experiences and emotions. May this exhibit inspire us to embrace our emotional inheritances with gratitude and to find in them the strength to move forward on this eternal journey called life.
